The City of Lincoln Recreation Department, on a year-round basis, is always looking for volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, team guardians, referees, scorekeepers and gym assistants for all sports. Parents, family members, college and high school students along with all other community members are encouraged to participate in the development of the community’s youth.

The purpose of our youth sports volunteers, primarily our volunteer coaches, is to provide instruction, leadership and supervision to children ages 4-17 in a variety of sports and activities. Some of the duties expected from our volunteer coaches are to plan, organize and supervise practice sessions; communicate with parents about information regarding their child’s program or team, and work closely with the Recreation Department staff to ensure all department rules and policies are being observed. The time commitment for most of our programs is usually 4-6 hours weekly, depending on practice and game schedules. As a general rule, practices are held on weekdays after school, and games are held on weekends. Come make a difference in a child’s life today!
